Inspired by the slogan ‘We are nature defending itself’, this project aims to explore the symbiotic bonds of coexistence that unite living beings with their ecosystem. Focusing on the convergence of environmental movements advocating for bodies and territories liberation, this project highlights the representative voices of living beings seeking to resist against privatisation, exploitation and the destruction of ecosystems, often wrongly considered uninhabited by a capitalist, colonial and patriarchal system of domination. Guided by ecofeminist and Indigenous writings, this visual research proposes to reforest our imaginations with current examples of places where the act of respectfully inhabiting a territory became a powerful tool of resistance, where community and free circulation are encouraged, Mother Earth’s figure celebrated, and all living beings considered as equals.
